Mary Patterson Thornburg
Mary Patterson Thornburg has lived in California, Washington State, Indiana, Montana, and several alternate realities of her own and others' devising. Her writing heroes are Mary Shelley, who gave the world a metaphor for technology alienated from its creators; the late Ursula K. Le Guin and the late Octavia E. Butler, inventors of worlds whose penetrating searchlights illuminate the one we live in; and Stephen King, who for many years now has told all the truth but told it slant.
